Most authors are not lazy.
They are not “bad at marketing.”
They are not missing the secret hack everyone else has apparently been sent by owl.
They are usually making one small decision that quietly blocks the next one.
Swipe through before you plan your next launch, promo push, or “why is nothing working?” spiral.

I blinked and somehow landed up with 47 Canva tabs open, three half-drunk coffees, and a to-do list that had quietly started multiplying behind my back.

Last week was jam-packed with new releases to support, upcoming launches to prep, Facebook ad strategies to map out, seamless carousels to build, reels to create, bookmark designs to finish, and somewhere in the middle of all of it all, my kids’ final projects for the term had to be remembered, supervised, glued, printed, packed, and sent in on time.

So, a fairly normal week, really.

Despite what Instagram might have you believe, it’s not just polished launch graphics or tidy strategy docs. It is creative work sitting right next to the admin work sitting right next to real life.

🛋️ My comfort show is always New Girl. There are very few problems Nick and Schmidt cannot temporarily distract me from.

🐾 I love animals in a way that means I will stop the car to pet your dog or squeal in delight at the sight of a fur baby. I have 5 dogs, 2 cats, birds, a hamster, and fish.

🇿🇦 I live in South Africa, but I have worked with US-based companies since I left school because the time difference let me build a career while still being present at home.

💍 I met my husband in my last year of high school. Our first date was terrible. We got married a year later. We have been together for 14 years, and our love story is a trope tree you would absolutely go feral for.

⚡ Random fact no one ever believes: I was struck by lightning while dancing to Boom, Boom, Boom by the Vengaboys. I wish I had made that up. I did not.

I left corporate because I was tired of being too emotional, too creative, too passionate, too much.

So I focused on building Literary Inspired, where caring too much is absolutely the standard I hold myself to.
