Your email list is one of the most valuable things you own as an author, which is exactly why you should not hand your marketer the password to it. Every major email platform lets you give your marketer access to MailerLite, Mailchimp, or Flodesk as a separate user with their own login and a defined permission level. This guide covers how it works on each, the plan MailerLite requires, and which role to choose so your marketer can run your campaigns without touching your billing or exporting your list.
Why a separate user, not your password
A shared password means no record of who did what, and the day you reset it, your marketer is locked out. A separate user account gives them scoped access, keeps your billing private, and lets you remove them in one click. It also protects the one thing that matters most on an email platform: the ability to export your entire subscriber list.
MailerLite
Add users in your account settings. Adding more than two users is a feature of the Comfort and Power plans, so check your plan first if the option is missing. MailerLite has five user types: Administrator (full access, including exporting subscribers and billing), Manager (full access except exporting subscribers, billing, and managing users), Viewer (reports only), Accountant (billing only), and Custom. For a marketer running your campaigns, Manager is usually right: they build and send, but cannot export your list or touch billing.
Mailchimp
Go to Account, then Settings, then Users, and invite a user by email. Mailchimp’s roles are Owner, Admin, Manager, Author, and Viewer. Manager can create, edit, and send campaigns and manage audiences, but not billing or account settings. Author can create and edit but not send. Give a marketer Manager if they are running campaigns end to end.
Flodesk
Flodesk uses Team Seats, where each member gets their own login and access level. The roles are Administrator, Manager, and Editor, and you invite by email. Give a marketer Manager or Editor depending on how much you want them to control.
What to Watch Out For
Protect the export. Only give a role that can export your subscriber list if you actually intend your marketer to hold your whole list as a file. On MailerLite, Manager cannot export, which is usually what you want.
Check your plan first. MailerLite limits multiple users to the Comfort and Power plans. If the invite option is missing, the plan is why.
Remove access when the engagement ends. A former marketer with live access to your list is a real risk. Remove the user the day the work stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I give access without sharing my password?
Yes. MailerLite, Mailchimp, and Flodesk all let you invite a user with their own login and a set permission level, so you never share your password.
Which role should my marketer have?
One that lets them build and send campaigns but not export your list or touch billing. That is Manager on MailerLite, Manager on Mailchimp, and Manager or Editor on Flodesk.
Do I need a paid plan to add my marketer?
On MailerLite, adding more than two users needs the Comfort or Power plan. If the invite option is missing, check your plan.
