Who you are dealing with

I’m Meg Kelly. Literary Inspired is me, one person, based in South Africa, offering marketing services to indie fiction authors. There is no team, no support desk, and nobody else reading your email. You can reach me at [email protected] about anything on this page.

What I collect, and when

When you fill in a form on this site, subscribe to my newsletter, book a call, or email me, I collect what you give me: your name, your email address, and usually some combination of your author name, social handles, website, book details (title, genre, tropes, blurb, release date) and where you are in your publishing timeline. If you become a client, I also hold the working material a project needs, which can include manuscripts, cover files, brand assets, and platform access.

Some information is collected automatically when you browse: your IP address, browser and device type, and which pages you looked at. That runs through Google Analytics, and it exists so I can tell which pages are useful and which aren’t. I look at it in aggregate; I am not watching individual visitors.

What I do with it

I use it to do the thing you asked me to do: answer your email, quote your project, run your ARC campaign, build your site, send your newsletter. If you subscribed to The First Draft, I use your email address to send you The First Draft, and you can leave at the bottom of any issue. That is the whole list.

I do not sell your data. I do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes. I do not add you to a mailing list because you emailed me once. If a project genuinely requires bringing in a collaborator, I tell you first.

The tools this actually runs on

Naming them is more useful than saying “trusted third parties,” so: the forms on this site run on Fluent Forms, hosted with the site itself. My newsletter runs on Listmonk, which I host myself, so your email address sits on my own server instead of an email company’s. The ARC reader network runs on Substack, and ARC files are delivered through BookFunnel. Client projects are tracked in Todoist and files are held in Google Workspace. Calls are booked through Calendly, and site traffic is measured with Google Analytics. Invoices and payments go through PayPal. The outside companies on that list each have their own privacy policy, and each has better security infrastructure than any policy I could write myself.

How long I keep things

ARC campaign data, which includes reader sign-up details, is deleted from my systems three months after the campaign ends. If you are the author, download anything you want to keep before then. Client project files are kept while we are working together and for as long afterward as is genuinely useful for your next launch, and I will delete them on request. Invoicing records are kept as long as the law requires, which is not up to either of us.

Your rights

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, or withdraw your consent, at any time, without explaining why. Email [email protected] and I will sort it quickly and without making it awkward. If you are in the EEA or the UK, the lawful bases I rely on are consent (the newsletter), contract (the work you hired me for), and legal obligation (invoicing records). South African clients and readers are covered by the same handling under POPIA.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to keep it working properly and to count visits. You can block or clear them in your browser settings and the site will still work. Nothing here follows you around the internet afterward.

Children

This site and these services are for adults running a publishing business. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If this changes

It will, occasionally, as the tools change or the law does. The current version always lives here with the date at the top. If a change actually affects you, I will say so rather than quietly updating a date.
