Free Trend Report ✦ 2026 Fall Edition

The leaves are falling. So are your page reads.

Every fall my inbox fills with the exact same panic. Sales dipped, KU paid less, the algorithm supposedly changed, and you’re wondering if you should quit publishing and go live in the woods.

So I dug through the KDP payouts, Google Trends, the fall release slate and the 2026 social studies, and wrote down what the numbers mean for your next book. No corporate fog. No toxic positivity. No White Rabbit sprinting across six platforms.

Deep breath. You’re in the right place.

The human behind the spreadsheets

Hi, It’s Meg. (Not Megan.)

Confession: I am obsessed with data.

I started Literary Inspired after thirteen years in digital marketing across global agencies, mostly so I could make reading my job and books a legitimate tax write-off. Early on I realized I was unreasonably good at spotting patterns in data and turning them into systems. Turns out that was undiagnosed ADHD with a dash of OCD for good measure. These days I wield my neurospicy talents like a seventeen-year-old FMC about to save the kingdom, from the safety of my desk, behind a screen, because, germs, obviously.

What that means for you: I’ll never tell you to overhaul your launch because someone in an author group swears a new video trend went viral. I bring the spreadsheets, the receipts, and the diagnostic questions to ask before you stare at a quiet dashboard and decide the answer is another pen name, another platform, or another frantic rewrite.

Structural logic beats shouting into the void.

Let’s take your platform from meh to Meg!

Meanwhile, in the group chat

The Group Chat Is Spiralling. Let’s Read the Numbers Instead.

Every quiet month turns into an emergency meeting: rewrite the blurb, switch genres, pull out of KU, or quit publishing forever. Most of the time the data tells a calmer story. Here’s what the numbers say about this season:

⚑

Red flag: treating your author website like an afterthought squeezed in at 2am.

✓

Green flag: treating your email list like the only audience you own.

⚑

Red flag: believing posting everywhere, all the time, is the only way to sell books.

✓

Green flag: marketing that runs on systems while you draft.

Put the backlist down. Nobody needs a 2:00 AM genre pivot.
